Trip to Oshkosh (and Back)

After a couple of weeks of intense tweaking and testing, it was time for Oshkosh. My instructor and I packed a weeks worth of clothes and camping equipment into the plane and headed west on August 3rd from our flight park near Toledo, Ohio.

Oshkosh Approach

After many adventures (aventuras?) - which I'll write more about someday - we arrived at the Ultralight strip at Wittman Regional airport. Above is a shot of the approach taken by our airpark owner, who just happened to be out by the strip with his camera as we came in.

Thumbs Up!

Here's Jon Jacobs, my instructor and flying buddy, giving the big thumbs up. We made it to Pilot's Mecca!

As you can see, it's still August 3rd. Makes for a long day...

We hung out for a few days and enjoyed the show, then headed home. Because of headwinds we ran out of daylight at Sturgis, Michigan, so we didn't make it home in one day.
