Covering the Wings
Dilemma: the leading edge wrap covered half the tank
filler.
Solution: extend the wrap and cut a hole.
All the rough edges are taped.
Russ Hauser whipped up a set of tapers to go on the
end of the spars.
The cloth in place before "skrinking."
After it's been "skrunk."
After the first coat of PolyBrush.
After all the holes are marked and drilled, the rib
tapes stuck down, holes poked through the tapes with a soldering
iron, and the rivets in place
- on one side of one wing. This took a while.
Finally done riveting.
Most of the wing is taped. Here I'm working on the
tip bow using bias tape.
Ready for the sprayed coat of PolyBrush, then the PolySpray.
Wing after its first coat of PolySpray. Next it has
to be lightly sanded to smooth any rough patches, and sprayed
one more time with PolySpray to replace whatever was sanded off.
Then it'll be ready for color. Stay tuned...
