Sun N Fun 2003
I used to live just 4.5 miles from the Paradise City ultralight
strip at Sun N Fun, so Chuck Slusarczyk of CGS Aviation allowed me to display
my ship at his booth, and fly demonstration flights for CGS all week. On
display in the CGS area were (left to right):
- Fred Anderson's Hawk II Arrow.
- My plane.
- Jon Jacob's 1984 Hawk Classic.
- Chuck's Hawk Plus, painted in Army colors (not shown in this picture).
In front of the CGS trailer.
The cockpit as it looked at SNF.
On the Paradise City flight line before flying home for
the night.
Notes concerning the other planes on display:
- Fred Anderson's plane garnered a lot of attention for its three-cylinder
Geo engine, and for its innovative "blue jeans and leather" paint
job, applied by his wife, LouAnne (did I spell that right, Fred?). Kitplanes
magazine was particularly interested - watch for an article on it in a
future issue.
- Jon Jacob's plane won Best Ultralight Antique. Jon thought the award
more properly belonged to Paul Wells - who did a full restoration on it
last year - so he sent it to him. This is the plane that Paul flew to third
place in the US National Ultralight Championships in September, 2002. JJ
will be taking this plane to England in August, 2003 for the World Microlight
Championships.
